So far I have not noticed any advantage on the atmos speakers with this bar, tested it with GoTG Vol 2.

Does it have an Atmos track ? I seem to see only the 4k has that...

really depends on the room setup... if you have the ability to do ceiling mounted speakers you have a little more flexibility for seating but if you can only do the reflective speakers you really need a theater style seating layout or it can potentially kill the illusion of sound coming from above you

I have the room and could easily mount ceiling speakers.

Yes, I have the 4K versión, it has a 7.1.4 track

Mahjik Mar 4, 2018 12:58 PM

Aside from the Atoms demos, I haven't heard anything really using it yet.

You can try the free demos via VUDU:

https://www.vudu.com/content/movies/...-Bundle/638505

lmchv Mar 4, 2018 07:49 PM

VUDU is not available in Peru

I just found that my UHD player was not on passthrough :bleh: ...

The bluray player does not decode Atmos and has to be on passthrough if I want that track, I just tried the demos again and now it's working fine :)

No, they will come later when I build a true HT downstairs in the basement. ITs an openfloor upstairs and it'd be a bit goofy on our layout.

I'm running with the built in speakers for now. Figuring out a sound solution is the next item on my To Do list. I'm open to suggestions in this.

even a cheap home theatre in a box would be better, what can you afford to spend on it?

I do like how you wall mounted/hid all the gear

Will you be wall mounting whatever sound system you go with as well?

I know. I had an old LG soundbar hooked up to it as a temporary solution, but it's been in boxes for years and moved a lot. So while it would connect and work, the wireless connection to the subwoofer kept dropping out randomly and the HDMI ARC connection would require rebooting the soundbar a third of the time to get it to recognize and connect. I just got tired of fussing with it and abandoned that soundbar setup.

I've only had this TV for about a week now, so it's not like this is a permanent setup. It's still a work-in-progress. Right now I've been using headsets for the Xbox and the PS4.

For a new sound setup I'm open to hearing thoughts or recommendations. I wouldn't want to have to justify spending more than $1k on something.

I'm not sure yet. I'm planning on keeping the space under the TV open. I want to get a beanbag chair or something that would just live under the TV when not in use.

The space in the room isn't huge. Half of the area is taken up by home office desks and setup. Specifically for this area, we're talking about a space from the viewing position on the couch to the TV of 9ft by roughly 7ft wide. So even a small, modest solution would have a pretty big impact.

Makes sense - my gaming/PC area is a small attic room with a kneewall, so with desks and setup space is at a premium, if I want it to look decent anyway.

No kids here. Those Marvel comics book tins on the wall are mine.

I wouldn't be able to use a good home theater system. I'm guessing a 2.1 with some bookshelves is about as good as I'd need. Or maybe a soundbar though I feel like saying that out loud is likely to upset people. I just don't know where I'd put a receiver for a 2.1 system and still keep things clean like it is now. It's a house, but neighbors aren't far away so I don't usually turn it up too loud.
