mmc 7.5 and large mpeg2 files
Whats up with large files captured with MMC in mpeg2. Is the MMC file player the only app that can open a large file once it is captured because i can't get windvd, adobe premiere 6, tsunami or xmpeg to work with this mpeg2. Xmpeg actually opened it but it won't recognize the timeline or jobsize and therefor won't let me process the file(it is almost 5.5 gigs). This sucks plz someone help...Thx.

I didn't see your OS listed, but are you running an NTFS file system? If so, I suspect the programs having problems opening the file aren't WinXP/2K compatible. FAT32 file systems have a 4Gb file limit, and I believe non-XP/2K compliant applications are typically bound by that limit.

I'm running winxp with an ntfs file system. Thx for your help and just for fun I'll capture a 5 gig avi file and try to open it in premiere. I understand what your saying but I hope it isn't so :( otherwise whats the point in capping 1 large file. Anyways I'll go do that 5 gig avi thing and let you know how it worked out although I can only open it up in premiere or virtual anyways.

Well I capped a 5.5 gig avi with virtual dub and huffyuv and it open no with no problems with adobe premiere 6 so I guess it is not the ntfs compatable software thing(thx god :)) It must be a problem with mmc. If anyone else is having probs opening large mpeg2 files capped with mmc and knows how to fix plz let me know. I remember reading something about using a hex editor on large mpeg2 files that won't open but i can't remember the procedure or if it even worked. Oh well I'll figure it out sooner or later...or not

Though I have not tried to process such MPEG2 file captured by MMC 7.5, but I have successfully used DVD2AVI for processing MPEG2 file captured by MMC 7.1. DVD2AVI acts as a framesever and you should be able to process the file when combined with VFAPI or AVIsynth.
