Windows 10 1909

Yesterday my main desktop got updated to 1909 18363.385, I'm on the release preview channel.

So far, the only differences I've noticed are the labels on the shortcuts in the Start Menu, before they were only icons, now when you hover over them they expand to show a label. And, the option to add a new event/calendar entry directly from the clock in the traybar.

I was hoping they include the new Edge browser based on Chromium in this release :(

So, has anyone else received the update?

Isn't this the one that's supposedly gonna to be delivered as a cumulative update (instead of the usual "feature upgrade") if you're already running 1903?

Haven't got it yet, but not surprised since I've had to manually install previous updates.

1903 is still current, unless you're in the preview channel like lmchv. If previous cycles are any indication, I'd be surprised if 1909 gets pushed out as a wide release before the end of October.

1909 was offered to me via Windows Update a bit ago.

Took less than 5 minutes to install and that's being generous cause i didnt time it.

Took longer to reboot my rig twice than it did to dl and install.

Really wish there was a way to turn this off. My laptop somehow got this "feature" while still on 1903 (my gaming/HTPC desktop didn't have it until today after updating to 1909). I already know what each icon is for and it kinda interrupts when trying to shut the computer down (just about to click, then it appears and I have to click again).

At least this update took just a few minutes instead of an hour....

All good here and it looks like they fixed the VPN problem I had at work connecting from the tray which 1903 broke.

After going through a migration process at work, windows 10 still sucks compared to windows 7, migrating windows 7 works without doing anything while windows 10 needs to be logged out of O365 or it f’s up the migration and you have to create a whole new profile. Thanks Microsoft!

I have a buddies laptop that refuses to update to 1903. I've tried everything; I'm going to have to reformat. It's very strange - it goes to install the 1803 security and .NET framework uodates, restarts, does the "working on updates" first reboot, then fails to boot the second time and the boot after that has Windows "reverting to a previous installation."

Can't figure out what's causing it. I tried using the 1903 media installation tool but I get the same problem with that too.

Updated today hopefully if fixes the annoying bug where the menu can not open after coming out of sleep(right click options only).

My pc would upgrade to 1903, neither, but I found the cause. It was a very old installation of TotalMedia that caused a BSOD. Uninstalled it and the upgrade went through without a hitch. Remember to uninstall the driver for total media as well(!)

I found out this was the problem as I analysed the .DMP file produced during the installation. Do note that this is not the path: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP, but rather a path into the temporary/new windows installation C:\$something\somepath\somefile.DMP

Once opened with WinDbg, one commant (bt for back trace) shows the stack dump and the last entry is where it crashed. It should be easy enough to see if it crashes in a SYS file and which.

1903 wouldnt install on buddys old i7 920. So he just said screw it and decided to update his 11 year old machine to a 3700x and a 2070 super lol

Any particular reason?

My brother has a i7 920 laptop that I am trying to get him to upgrade from win 7 to 10.
If there is a basic incompatability I will not bother pushing him to upgrade.

Other than that's what I think it is.. no clue. I never got a chance to dive into the machine.

The update runs like **** on my system. The download folder randomly become non-responsive causing hicup on my system.

1903 runs fine on my i7 920 (overclocked to 3.6GHz). Did have to uninstall some old software that Windows 10 installation caused a BSOD over.
