Phone apps close after Android 10 update. Any ideas?

I'm at my wits end. I've tried literally everything I can think of. Googling around is no help.

Blackshark 1 updated to Android 10, now apps are crashing being open for just a few minutes.

Virtually all apps crash after the android 10 update. iHeart Media, Pandora, spotify (rarely finishes one song before crashing), even my camera crashes. This never happened before the big android 10 update, but now they are all unstable to various degrees. Uninstalled and re-installed the apps, rebooted phone, hard-rebooted phone, went into each app and turned the battery saver options off completely, cleared each apps cache, checked for latest updates for apps and phone, I even did a hard reset of the phone and that didn't fix anything. This is extremely obnoxious and was wondering if anybody had any ideas on how to fix it?

The nuclear option isn't really an option and that is to revert back to Android 9. When it was on Android 9 it was 100% stable, but since the 10 update it has become almost unusable. The reason it isn't an option is I'd likely have to root my phone and I'd need a ROM of my phones android 9 version...which I cannot find anywhere.

The only other option isn't really practical either and that is to wait for a possible update in the future and hope that fixes it.

I had similar happen to me. It wasn't all apps, but random closing/crashes were common. I backed up the install, then did a factory reset and reinstalled everything. Smooth sailing since then. That's on a note 8...

Interesting, i have something like that too, but only very few apps seems to be affected (playstore/Facebook). Also yt-videos suddenly have problems with playback. Thought it was the phone, but maybe it's Android 10. Will have to check that.

Unfortunately, the factory reset had no effect for me. I don't understand it, everything was working fine with A9 but A10 is unstable. And no, it's not all apps...I think, but streaming apps (pandora, spotify, iheart) seem to be the most effected. That and even my camera closes...

It is so infuriating when all you want to do is listen to some tunes on your way home from work (35-45 minute drive average) and then the music stops after one or two songs.

The only other thing I can think of would be related to a specific app or the UI Xiaomi uses...I'm thinking UI because other than the initial issues, I haven't had or heard about any major A10 problems lately on other brands.

It's a p.i.t.a. but disable one UI feature at a time and test, rinse repeat. Go through Xiamoi specific apps first, then others and/or system services.

If that doesn't find the issue, I think I might be demanding a new phone.

EDIT: I may have missed it, but this tracker for Xiaomi A10 updates doesn't mention the Black Shark 1. It has the Shark 2 listed....I hope it's not a compatibility issue between the 1 and the 2. Scroll to the bottom.

That would be really, REALLY stupid if they forced an update through and it was unstable. I am receiving more help here than I have at other places I've posted, so I thank you for that. I just bought this phone too and it was working perfectly until they forced the A10 update through...ugh.

Actual device model is SKR-H0
It has a UI called JOYUI but I don't think there is much in the way of disabling in it. I dug around and turned off a bunch of stuff but it didn't seem the have any effect.

Is there a difference between the Black Shark you have and the original Balck Shark Pro?

This states the Black Shark Pro, and the Black Shark 2.

I would be pissed if there was a compatibility issue and they pushed it anyway. What comes to mind is possible display differences between the Pro and yours. That could cause crashes....maybe worth exploring a bit?

Actually...that's me. :bleh:

But thanks for helping in the way you can! I appreciate it.

No way

Sorry I couldn't give you any concrete help. I would be seriously upset over that. Best of luck and keep us posted if you find anything

Somebody responded on my reddit post. Turns out they are having similar problems, so this is a problem for sure with the update.

UPDATE: I don't know if my phone did an update in the middle of the night or something, but since Monday all the apps have been stable. No crashing, songs play normally, and I was able to listen to my podcasts without a crash both Monday and Tuesday and then pandora and spotify without a crash.

As I said, I'm thinking it must have done some update Sunday night while I was asleep that fixed things. Not sure really, seems weird that everything would just suddenly work again. But hey, I'm not complaining! Hopefully it's not just a luck streak.
