Nvidia Has a Driver Overhead Problem, GeForce vs Radeon on Low-End CPUs

The issues with Cyberpunk have zero to do with RT. Control wasn't buggy at all, neither was Metro Exodus..

Bill just says **** sometimes lol

the RT is buggy in 2077 or does a glass window always look like a funhouse mirror

plus RT needs DX12 NV has always had problems with DX12 .

but sorry to offend all the nvidiaocrats here ..........

.....not :p

Control was rock solid for me with RTX maxed out but I had lots of issues with Metro Exodus. Game would crash A LOT especially on certain levels. Turning off RTX and some other graphics settings (I think DX12) would always alleviate the crashing.

Wasn't just me either, looking online you will find lots of people had crashing problems with Metro Exodus.

Were the crashes due to RTX or due to DX12?

Bill.. not sure where you got the idea that NV has always had issues with DX12. Once again, sometimes I think you just say **** to say ****. I still love you though.

6900XT is great but aside from the fact that it's ultra rare in the retail channel the RT performance is not there.

If amd had its dlss tech the rt perf wouldnt be that far off. I mean who knows if amd tech is faster at dlss than nvidia for all we know at a given comparable quality level.

On that note there are some rumblings that it might come out sooner than later... tho maybe only for a game or 2 at first.

Apparently the next amd driver is significant... we'll see

I agree and AMD is working on its own DLSS solution, I should have stated that at the current time the RT performance is not there.

Interesting. I never had any issues myself, but I also didn't finish the game either. I don't care enough to research and go through post history to make an argument against an absurd claim that bill made, no offense. :bleh:

Never change Nunz.

Seriously though, in PC gaming with so many different configs it's not unusual for certain people to have software issues while others don't.

My particular crashing happened mostly on one particular area (desert level), and when shoveling coal in the train which is a heavy RTX section. Other parts of the game were rock solid for me.

Yeah I remember people talking about the desert area, now that you mention it.

I did, at one point, test the coal shovel thing, and didn't have any issues. I agree with you though; with PC Gaming and thousands and thousands of different hardware combinations, issues can arise just from compatibility. My issue with what Bill said is that directly blaming one aspect of an entire highly complex graphics engine seems ridiculous.

I actually didn't even see Bill's post. Just saw you mention Metro Exodus and i know i had issues with that game so wanted to chime in.
