Probably not. On Android, changing the battery, is usually not so difficult and it is an item that is expected to wear out... except on iPhones apparently.

They enable this as they update iOS. Android phones dont get OS-upgrades so no issues there.

Apple enabled the feature in a certain version of iOS. Anything that ships with that software, or greater, would have it. It makes sense that Android would similarly shape processor profiles (Linux-proper can do this), because Li-ion batteries are unable to handle instantaneous load as they age. Saying this, one reason you want a Li-ion battery instead of something else is that they maintain peak voltage better than other types of battery.

Actually, it's worth noting that most Android phones display this behaviour with heat, as opposed to battery degradation with time. iPhones are among the few phones that can maintain max processor performance over a sustained period.
Android phones, or any hardware, throttling due to heat is not the same thing. Plus LG and Samsung have gone on record saying they have never had to do this.

This is simply an odd choice by Apple. Their given reasoning seems... well unlikely? Especially given that it seems to be an unheard of thing to do.
For the sake of Apple, I would hope iPhones do too, but this has nothing to do with heat, rather, Apple is gimping peoples phones (forced obsolescence).

Keeping phones stable is a good thing so I'm good with this. Hiding battery stats and the health of your battery is unacceptable. iBackupBot so I could check the battery stats. My wife's phone is currently down 400 mAH capacity so I'll have the battery replaced. Mine is still fine.
Apple said battery stats will become available in iOS sometime early this year.
I've had some pretty bad battery life, especially after the phone being out in -25 degree weather and going insane on me for about a week. I'd have 50% battery, go out on the flightline to work and my phone would have 1% for 3 hours due to the cold temperatures. I'm grabbing a new battery just because; for only $29 it's worth the piece of mind, and my 6S is still in mint condition so with a new battery it should last me another year, if not longer. I have zero complaints with my phone besides the degraded battery life I started to notice with iOS11 and the drop in battery life since I worked 12s for a week in extremely cold weather with the phone in my pocket. I'm barely making it through a full day, if that, and I'm not the type to sit on my phone all day. It used to last me 2 full days without a charge when I first purchased the phone, only 2-3 months before the 7 came out.
Made a reservation at the local Apple Store for 7:30pm tonight to get the battery replaced. Looking forward to seeing how different my phone is after the change.
