icloud and its constant BS

So if you turn off all the automatic uploading of icloud stuff on the iPhone (so that it DOESNT upload pictures automatically when you take it), does it end up deleting all the stuff on the phone, leaving the contents on the cloud, in which case you need to log into the cloud to reacquire them?

And how do you download stuff off icloud....its confusing as **** to me.
Why cant I just select a picture (why cant I select multiple pictures.....) and just choose a place to save as?

I end up installing the icloud app on the PC/phone and I have no idea where the stuff goes as it seems to do stuff the autosync way...which is irritating as hell.

wife and I have been getting email notifications that our cloud is full and our backups aren't backing up because of that. I want to get rid of that problem but getting the stuff off the cloud just seems far more convoluted than it needs to be.

When I severed ties with Apple and drove my truck through a store about 6 months ago, the easiest fix was to have the icloud app on another device, pc or mac.

All documents can be downloaded as desired. Pics were only a single photo at a time.

When disabling icloud you should get a prompt to keep everything on the device, THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK!

Apples photo management is horrendous. There are horror stories, mine included of massive loss of photos.

I'd get started with icloud on your pc, log in and begin the painful process of recovering your photos.

as much as I like apple cuz it just works, I hate their file management system.

ITunes is annoying as hell, icloud just plain sucks to work with.

I was trying to move a picture onto my phone last night and i couldn't even figure that out (since you cant just copy/paste it)

I ended up just uploading it to onedrive and downloading it to the phone.
at least the Microsoft stuff still functions like normal windows stuff.

icloud and file management (plus the initial OS11 bugs) are what drove me away. My wife still has hers though - plenty of crazy for me to indulge in lol.

It will ask if you want to keep them on the phone if you do that.

I didnt know there was an icloud app? iTunes? AFAIK I think Apple made a way to download your files from their cloud from icloud.com. I mean the easiest way to backup your files on the phone is just to plug it into your PC and just pull all the pictures off of the phone into a folder(no iTunes needed)

After I realized all my photos were being auto UL to the cloud I tried to get them off the phone and, at that time anyway, if it was uploaded, a copy was not kept on the phone. I had to download what I could from the windows icloud app.
