Going on now for 8th year! I hope it has helped you as it helped me keeping my backlogs in check while enjoying my games.

Not every month someone will be finishing a lot, as there are months where a person just can't finish anything. Then you got that streak going in another month.

Also, if you plan to replay the game, it is fine but don't repeat it at a later month as first completion is what counts.

Another thing is the criteria of what is considered completed in unclear games such as team based multiplayer games; I would say set a target for that. E.g. I considered Overwatch completed when I reached level 100. Or when I finished story mode (which was a long movie sequence) in Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator. You decide what you consider is completed as long as it is reasonable to a certain extend and correlate-able to a single player experience.

DLC completed at a separate time from the main game and has enough content (+1 hour) can be counted as a separate completion.
Console completions can be accepted as long as the main focus is still PC overall.

Completed Games:
737-Quake II: Remastered
738-Star Wars: Squadrons
739-Lies of P
740-Tekken 8

So yeah! Another year passed. Amazing that this is continuing for 8th year now. Time flies. Life happens! Forums on life support it seems. Strange feelings. I was a teenager when I first visited this site. Anyway, another new year of backlog completions. For last month, I did 4:

737-Quake II: Remastered: Was nostalgic to do the main campaign again. Finally got to play the expansions when I couldn't when I was young. The new expansion was amazing too. Overall, loved it.

738-Star Wars: Squadrons: Had this on backlog for a while. Was great in VR.

739-Lies of P: This was way better than I expected. It is closest to From Software blueprint than any other souls like game. Worth checking it out. Also amazing take on Pinocchio story.

740-Tekken 8: Street Fighter 6 was amazing but Tekken 8 takes it to the next level! One of the best fighting games story mode. It just speaks directly to fighting game fans. The thrill of confrontation and challenge! Add to it all other amazing elements and this makes this one of the best fighting games ever.

Strong start for me this year. 7 in total.

Starfield
MK1
Immortals of Aveum
Saints Row
COD MW SP1
Ghostwire Tokyo
Trepang2

Like dope.

Eight. A better month both in quality and quantity.
The Flower Follectors - Decent Narrative game set in Post-Franco Spain.
The Spirit & The Mouse - Short and cute.
Clash Artifacts of Chaos - Stylish but really not that good.
Martha is Dead - Looked forward to this one but was very disappointed; clumsy and unconvincing.
Subnautica Below Zero - Not as good as the first one but still good and very immersive in VR.
Zero Caliber - Tactical shooter in VR. Very rough but still fun.
Season A Letter to the Future - NIce narrative exploration game. A brief but enjoyable visit to a sheltered valley.
Destroyer The U-Boat Hunter - Very good sim-lite.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

I'd recommend against buying it right now, it needs a patch or two.

4 for me.

Bee Island - Interesting concept strategy game that doesn't spell out the mechanics of how everything works together. Basically through trial and error you can learn to beat the game in a dozen waves. You have to start from the beginning to get all three endings and I did so. Thought about counting it as 3 games complete but I did this in less than 10 hours so probably not morally sound. 100% achievement completion.

Tavern Master - A slog of a game if you're trying to 100% it. If you just want a slow progression builder where you can build your own tavern with the limited design options, it is probably good. My daughter built hers with outdoor seating and when it rains, no one sits outside. She makes less money this way but doesn't care because she likes that her tavern has outdoor seating. So if you're like her, it's good. 100% achievements completion.

Batman: Arkham Asylum - Got the game when it first came out but I wasn't gud enough to finish it. The free G.O.T.Y. upgrade came out and I've been meaning to get back to it ever since. Finally did in November and finished it January. Starts off really strong but gets annoying around the 40% mark. Pushed through to the end so I earned this one.

Clash: Artifacts of Chaos - Gameplay wasn't quite what I was expecting but surprisingly hooked me. Labyrinthian level design as a whole world with a less than adequate map, but you progressively unlock gates that make it seem less overwhelming. The player character was surprisingly Alpha and kind of a "leave me alone" bad-ass that really appealed as I am the first half of that description and my imagination is the 2nd half. The fighting was gratifying as more often than not I ended up winning or losing with a sliver of health left either on me or on the enemy. The dice minigame is fun but doesn't add value. The night time exploration element was neat.

7 in January. A decent month for me, thanks to a few shorter games and a bit of free time at the start of the year. Feb will probably be quite a bit lower I imagine as I'm back at full-time work.

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, The Room, Hogwards Legacy, The Cub, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider.

Oh, you had tech issues? I thought it was pretty polished and only had a few minor platforming bugs.

Two for me:

2024
01-01 Urbo
01-02 Mass Effect 3 (Legendary Edition)

I used the holiday season to get Mass Effect 3 out of the way. I had started the Mass Effect trilogy, because I'd never played the games before. ME1 is obviously legendary and ME2 is apparently even better - I remember people went crazy over it. And ME3 was, at the time, a bit messy because of its ending, which has been fixed since. Having finished the trilogy, I can see why people love its universe and its characters. The gameplay feels old by now and I'm not so sure the awesomeness of these games still fully translates to current / modern gaming. But I had fun with Shephard and friends. Maybe some day I'll do Mass Effect Andromeda as well, so I'll have finished the whole franchise.

I'm currently playing Baldur's Gate 3, and since I'm in Act III I expect I'll finish it before too long. I've also been spending a lot of time on Assetto Corsa Competizione, Rocket League, and some Company of Heroes 2. I watched the LOTR trilogy last month and decided to buy the two Assassin's Creed: Middle-Earth games, but I haven't started them yet. In similar fashion, I've downloaded Remember Me, because I'd like to replay that game. At the same time I need to get back into MotoGP 23 and finish it, if only to keep up the streak from MotoGP 13 onward. And I want to play some games in VR again, and Outcast: A New Beginning is coming out in a month, and I've got a dozen free games from the Epic Store waiting for me, and I want to play TLOU: Part I on PC, and I wish TLOU2 would come to PC, and... Well, needless to say, I think outside of a select few games, I don't really need to spend a lot of money on gaming this year to get my fix.

For 2023, my target wasn't to finish as many games as I could, but to enjoy the catalogue I had already. I think for 2024, that's not going to change a whole lot.

Oh, and of course, a big shoutout to MNB4800 for keeping this list going. With R3D being notoriously unstable I have considered finding an alternative, but honestly, this just feels too comfortable. Reddit is too big, Discord too quick, Howlongtobeat.com too dull; nothing comes close to this old sweater full of holes.

Thanks again for your efforts, MNB4800.

Two for January.

Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell - This was kind of a weird game for me. It seemed like a lot of work had gone into the setting but then the game was strangely abbreviated. It seems like the storyline could have been twice as long easily. Also there was some bugginess when playing co-op. Both of those things detracted from the experience. The flight was a nice change from SR4, and the overall superpower mechanics were still interesting, but then there was the same issue as with SR4 where the guns almost felt superfluous when compared to the superpowers. Overall I'm only going to give this a 6/10. I feel like it didn't entirely live up to its potential.

Smash Box Arena (VR)- Basically a dodge ball game that came out early in VR. The servers were getting shut down, so I finally got some friends together to put in a few sessions. I'd been planning to do it for years, but it never was a priority. Anyway it was quite a bit of fun, despite having fairly simple graphics and a fair number of Unity store assets. I'm sad to see it go, but I guess all good things come to an end.

Oh, would it also be possible to change my 2023 total to 14? I realized I missed reporting a game last year.

On another note, I hate to say it, but the site seems to have become quite unreliable in the past year or so. It's kind of difficult to post gaming progress promptly when it seems like half the time I check the site is down. I also worry that at some point the site will stay down for good.

Just throwing it out there, but maybe it would be worth considering having a back-up location to keep this thread going, just in case the site dies completely. Maybe on Reddit.com/r/rage3D? Anyway, just a thought.

It has been frustrating hasn't it?

Does anybody know why it's been so shaky or who maintains it? It doesn't seem to me that long since we migrated here because we were concerned about the stability of the old site (though it's pobably been a few years).

Beat 6 games in January
Uncharted: Lost Legacy
The Room
The Room 2
The Room 3
The Room 4
Far: Changing Tides

Can't seem to be able to modify my posts. Or I haven't figured out how to do it. Eitherway, The updates will be reflected in February thread.
