AiW 128 woes

- System: AMD K6-II 450 on P5A w/ 128Mb, Adaptec 2940W w/ pair of Seagate Barracuda drives, SCSI Zip, Toshiba SD-M1212 DVD, Acer CRW6026A CD-RW, 3Com 3C905TX 10/100 Ethernet, SB Live! Value, AiW 128 16Mb AGP.
- Ali AGP 1.6, ATI Rage 128 4.6114, Dev Mgr doesn't say what IDE driver version but it says 9/26/99 for the date (i know i updated this 'cause it fixed my dma non-availability issue). Operating system is '95 OSR2 with the "USB Supplement" that's supposed to update it to 2.1. Can't run 98 'cause the installer crashes; I think it doesn't like the SCSI controller.
- About half the time I boot this machine, which normally runs in 1024x768 mode, it only uses an 800x600 portion of the screen in the lower left-hand corner. This "sub-window" is a virtual desktop image on the normal 1024x768 resolution desktop, but only 800x600 big, and the remainder of the top and right side are completely unused. No amount of configuration (that i've tried) fixes the problem, I just reboot until it decides to work correctly. Once it boots and works, I'm good 'til I boot again.
- It crashes randomly during DVD playback. I've watched whole movies without problems, then the same movie later will crash four or five times to get through it all.
- The VideoWave II editor has never run without crashing.
- The *ATI Installer* has never run without crashing. I don't have the extra tabs on my Disply Properties box, and who knows what else. I've installed three different versions of software on this machine and not a one of them has failed to lock up before finishing.
- The card works just fine for normal, day-to-day use. It just doesn't do DVD, which is one of the main reasons I got it. The TV and Aux Video In work flawlessly.
- Any hints? Thanks in advance...
