Hello Everyone,

Nearly two years ago, we migrated our forums from VBulletin 3.6 to VBulletin 5.7.5. However, since then, we’ve encountered persistent issues, and the site has been frustratingly unstable. In January and part of February this year, the site was even completely down. Feeling a sense of responsibility toward our community, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

Last Friday, I embarked on a mission to revitalize Rage3D. First, I meticulously cleaned up the old VBulletin database, bringing the site back online swiftly. But that wasn’t enough. As we approach the 25th anniversary of Rage3D’s creation this April, I felt compelled to make lasting improvements. VBulletin, unfortunately, lagged behind other forums, especially when it came to mobile usability. Even during its rare moments of stability, the site remained painfully slow.

Driven by curiosity and a desire to enhance our community’s experience, I delved into extensive research. Despite not being a professional web developer or possessing advanced coding skills, I spent the last 15 hours moving Rage3D to the XenForo forum architecture. And I’m thrilled to share that the hard work paid off!

The site now boasts unprecedented speed, thanks to the new database, which is 27 times smaller than the old VBulletin database. Additionally, our revamped forum incorporates modern features, making it more engaging and user-friendly.

I take immense pride in presenting a stable and rejuvenated Rage3D. As we dive back into threads and conversations, I look forward to a frustration-free experience. So here’s to being less productive at work—because browsing Rage3D is time well spent!

Fuck. Yeah.

I know Lup and the others tried to drag Rage kicking and screaming closer to this part of the 21st century with the move to vB 5, after it was obvious that vB 3 had become a hindrance and a liability and so many Ragers were asking when things were going to be upgraded, and I certainly appreciate all the work that went into that. Since vB 5 after the migration started going real bad, I just have not been as active as I wanted to be, because of so many outages and DB errors; now, with this migration, I'm sorta like Captain Kirk at the end of Star Trek IV with the Enterprise-A: "Let's see what she's got."

Congrats Dave, not only does it look great, even on mobile but the site is now fast as hell.

Well done!

Excellent work, Dave. She's an old forum, but with some fat-cutting and new skin, she's pretty slick now. Probably worth mentioning the improved bone structure.

Nice now more people an see the discord link and join in on the live chats. Sorry i love that it works now but this method of communication really sucks. Just be forewarned its much spicier there. However weve all gotten to know each other way better.

Also this shit here works great on mobile.
