I was wondering if someone may know what the secret is to pulling better performance out of directcompute and opencl on specifically the Radeon 6800 and above series.
I recently got a Radeon 6870 and have been running all my games and benchmarks etc and see that my physics score for 3dmark 11...
I have been honestly confued by the comments about the 4870. Here and the reviewers.
Fromwhat i can see it is withing 5-7 FPS of the 280 most of the time. It beats it in a couple places and gets a licken in a couple. Burt for the most part its about 90% of a GTx 280.
So why does everyone...

They do a great job of demonstrating the advantage of having a PPU. I have only had mine for a couple of days and i really enjoy it...
I was having bad choppy sound issues with my on board sound in ETQW and occasionally in Ut3. So i thought heck iill get myself a shiny new X-FI card that can handle the load....
Wrong answer... now the stuttering and choppy sound effects my fame rate even worse in ETQW and i have much more...
I have a decent CPU and a decent GPU so....
I ordered a Sound Blaster X-FI sound card and an ASUS PhysX card.
That should make for about as rounded out and complete a system as you can get. While I know the PhysX card is going to be of limited use now it will only take one killer game that...
Here is the story on the price cuts coming in perhaps a few weeks.

I have had my new 8800GT for a day now and i am not afraid to say that i have not had an experience with a video card so enjoyable since my first 9700pro several years ago.
My frame rates are literally tippled, I have every slider in games set to max and i am playing at 1680x1050.

I finally got a new flat screen.
Nothing major just a 20" wide screen from Acer. But the native resolution is 1680x1050. I have been gaming with a 7950GT for the last few months at 1024x768 with 4x AA in most games. This has been the standard at which i gamed since the arrival of the 9700pro...
Well, I sold my X1800XT and did not really have the money for the card I wanted to get which was a 8800 GTS 320MB. So, After looking through the benchmarks on various sites I went with a BFG 7950 GT OC edition. I got it for under $200.
I really like this card. There are clearly certain things...
It begins now..
