My friends and I are trying to figure out which car sold in the USA was the last mass production car to have carbs?

Anyone have a clue?

I know Suzuki Samari's used carbs still in the like 1993 or so but I'm not sure that was the last one.

I think it's mid to late 70's. I'll have to look around and see......

Nope, dont know if its the last or not, but you could get a carburated 305 v8 in the camaros/firebirds up to.... 88? My 86 had one.

I believe the 1991 Pontiac Acadian which had a 1.9L carburetor
engine.

The 1989 Ford Escort with the 1.9 also had a carburetor...

Hope this helps!

I remember hearing some years ago that the Isuzu (sp?) pick-up truck was the last carb'ed vehicle sold in US.

Bah, trying to Google this several different ways comes up empty.

Anybody on other car forums and care to put this question up? Someone must know the right answer.

On their trucks they did.

GM cars had EFI long before 87'.

Really? I googled "last car with carburetor" and the first two hits both said that the 1990 Subarau Justy was the last new car with a carb.

Google can be such a pain. I searched for "last carburated car sold in USA" and different combos of and got squat.

Not convinced that is right though. I swear the Samari had carbs later.

Edit: Well could be the Justy after all. The Samurari..."Switching from carburetion to fuel injection for 1990, the 66 horsepower 1.3-liter engine came only with a 5-speed manual transmission."

"All models except the base Justy got a 73-horsepower fuel-injected engine for 1990, instead of the carbureted 66-horsepower 3-cylinder."

I know that Suzuki made cars for a long time into the 90's and maybe into 2000, with TBI and to the untrained TBI looks alot like a carb.

My parents have a 94, and it looks just like a little Carb with a 28mm throat.

They came on the 1L, 3 cylinder engines and some of the 1.3L 4 cylinder 8v engines. So it could of been the same set up on the samurais.

Have you ever seen a Chevette/Acadian with EFI?

I have not personally...
