AMD Never Settle: Reloaded

AMD is Reloading the Never Settle bundle for the AMD Radeon HD 7800 and 7900 series of graphics cards. Beginning today you can get a dazzling array of games to go with your graphics card, ranging from two titles for a single GPU purchase all the way up to eight games if you happen to live in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and fancy one of ASUS RoG Ares II cards. These are triple-A titles (mostly) and aimed at the enthusiast gamers who buy high performance graphics add-in boards. AMD is claiming leadership in four corners of gaming: Cloud, Client, Console and Content. Respectively, these reference AMD's GCN-architecture based FirePro S-series, and their partnership with CiiNow; the AMD Radeon HD 7000 series and Trinity APUs; the GPUs inside the Wii, Wii U, XBOX 360 (although the win for AMD Jaguar core architecture plus GCN architecture GPU based semi-custom APUs inside both the next XBOX and PlayStation seems nearly undeniable now); and finally the AMD Gaming Evolved program.

Gaming Evolved is the marketing name for developer relations and is multi-faceted - it includes sending hardware to developers (both big and small), tuning drivers and assisting with game tuning for AMD hardware features and technology (global illumination, for example). AMD's list of Gaming Evolved titles has ramped hard since it's inception in March 2010.

Never Settle: Reloaded

The new bundles begin February 4th, 2013, and if you buy a single AMD Radeon HD 7800 series you are rewarded with a coupon for digital download codes to unlock Tomb Raider and Bioshock: Infinite, when they release; yes, this combo includes games you can't buy yet. Still time to cancel a pre-order? Perhaps, as the AMD Radeon HD 7900 series replace Tomb Raider with Crysis 3, which AMD promise will be able to crush your old last generation graphics board and require it to be replaced with a shiny new GCN card.

Never Settle: Reloaded

So, what if you want to buy two of those AMD Radeon HD 7900 series cards? Then you're rewarded with the Ultimate reload package, which is Far Cry 3, Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite and Crysis 3; no duplicated codes, no one-promo-per-purchase-BS, just 6 games for you to enjoy. This ultimate reload package also applies to the Powercolor Devil 13 7990 and the ASUS RoG ARES II dual 7970 GPU cards. In the UK, as previously mentioned, ASUS removes Tomb Raider and adds DiRT Showdown, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Nexuiz.

Ultimate Reload

It's encouraging to see AMD's smart approach to this kind of marketing deal; these are brand new desirable titles - all part of AMD's Gaming Evolved program with GPU compute enhancements for high image quality - and delivered in a smart way, the (r)etailer adds a single promo code item to your shipped order that you redeem on AMD's Never Settle Reloaded website. Once you redeem your code you get your Origin, Uplay and Steam codes to begin downloading and enjoying your bonus content on your GPU(s). Last year's Never Settle bundle won AMD an 'eggie' (Newegg award) for Best Merchandising Campaign.

2012 Gaming Evolved Titles

In the midst of the reporting about layoffs, restructuring, and financial losses it's nice to see AMD focusing hard on gamers and thinking intelligently about their customers and what they want to see. Alongside the new Never Settle bundle is a Never Settle driver, AMD Catalyst 13.2 beta for performance and smoothness in certain titles. This is Gaming Evolved, so easy a caveman can do it, and a leap in the right direction that certainly underscores AMD's parting shot - the way games are meant to be bundled.

2013 - The year of all AMD gaming platforms?
