Default Radeon HD 5970 Techpowerup.

Just read this at Techpowerup http://www.techpowerup.com/108440/Ra..._Headroom.html

Looks like it may be time for an upgrade soon. This will involve a case upgrade as well. I think I will have to go with Corsair Obsidian 800 case.

hmm that is wierd that they are claiming that there could be a 30% increase in core/memory clock for overclockers.. That would put it a tad over the 5870 single gpu clocks, it just kinda says... but if you can overclock these baddies to single gpu card clocks for 200 bucks less... then I dont care if there trying some marketing propaganda or unwilling to supply there cards with adequate cooling, I will pull the trigger as long as they can overclock close to singe gpu cards on air. I havent set up a water block system yet and for some reason i am intimidated to invest the money into a water cooling system unless someone could walk me through my first initial install.

They have to keep the power draw below a certain point. That is why they can overclock so well, but not start at those clocks.

Apparently, the Radeon HD 5970 is not a very keen overclocker despite what ATI /AMD would like to have us believe. Perhaps it could be somewhat linked to the early driver nature and this may yet see an area of improvement in the near future."
