I hope rage3D is able to do feature review of the capabilities in time for official launch. That would be fantastic!

Where are those release notes by the way? Are they not available yet (until 10 dec) or did I miss something?

I tried this on my vista 64 bit system and it would only show 1 gpu in the overdriver panel. Also everest would only detect 1 cpu as it gets the info from the driver. I tried 3 installs and the results were the same each time so I am back to 8.11.

asus 4870x2 here....tested them for stability 1st...1 hour of 3dmark06 loop crashed same has the 8.11 BSOD ati2dvag.dll error...so back to the 8.10 hotfix drivers.

i wouldnt mind staying with the 8.10 hotfix drivers as they arent bad..only thing is quantum of solace wont work with those...only with 8.11 and 8.12 beta

guess ill have to wait till next year to play that game :P

anyways my next card will be Nvidia...tired of this bullsh*t

Own a rage3d xpression +, rage fury maxx, radeon64,9800pro,X800xt,1900xt,4870x2.

and this is the 1st card that drivers gives me BSOD with drivers. and with 6 days to go for the official release doubt strongly they will be any changes to them, they are probably just waiting for m$ certification.

This drivers work fine on X2 on vista64, so the problems posted regarding this card are user error.
There's a profile for fallout3 that fix performance but not hdr.

I guess I can live with that its more important to me to get rid of the stuttering caused by my limited VRAM when using only one card.

well sorry for those who dont like my opinion or comments but thats how i am feeling and that are the problems i am having...I have spent alot of $ upgrading this pc putting in only the best i could afford...

Asus rampage formula X48 ROG
intel E8600
Corsair dominator 4GB (5-5-5-5-15)
Asus 4870x2
thermaltake thoughpower 1200 watts
x-fi xtreme music
armor casing with side fan and all other fans replace with performance fans for max airflow

I am using XP SP3

when i install new drivers i use control panel to uninstall everything...then use ati uninstall utility...after that i boot in safe mode use driver cleaner pro...reboot and then install new drivers...

i always make sure i got the latest chipset drivers
latest sound card drivers
latest video drivers
and make sure windows is up to date....

So i can live without the user error comment and the sarcasm post thank you .

if u have any suggestion that might be of some help then that i would really appreciate.

u cannot blame someone from being frustrated with drivers after they spent like 800 cdn$ with tax for a video card wish they are having prob with.

most common prob ive seen lately is either x2 related or cfx related....those are the one who have spent alot of $ to build a gaming pc...therefore should be a priority for the drivers team dev.

anyways for all those that arent having any prob..hey i am happy for you.

if you want help, you have to ask for it and be open to suggestions. you've already decided your next video card is going to be nvidia... why waste time on trying to convince you? I ain't gonna beg you, no skin off my nose, and nvidia products are excellent, but have their foibles as well.

besides which, you're commenting on leaked beta drivers... wait till the official one comes out before throwing your toys out the pram, eh?

I have a Rampage extreme as well (it has x48 chipset as you stated) and I have this issue too. Everyone I'm reading of having this issue has a X48 mobo like us.
I'm starting to think it's some sort of incompatibility but I fear they won't fix the problem in time for release
It would suck a lot

Just a heads up to confirm, Vista 64bit, basic uninstall via control panel/Catalyst Install Manager, reboot then install via Catalyst Install Manager;

4870x2 here, drivers installed fine, the 2D/3D bug seems fixed now upon boot and core 1 is showing 507MHz under Rivatuner after multyple reboots, so check off 1 fix

Also can confirm 4870x2 users now have the CrossFireX Settings available upon right clicking the CCC icon in the task bar and selecting GPU # 1. Spyre said this option wouldn't be available to 4870x2 users but I guess he was wrong

Haven't tested any games yet as I've only just installed but these two fixes/functions are a good and positive start anyway.

True i did mention i was going to nvidia cuz i was really pissed at the time i posted...just after the damn BSOD LOL...I know Nvidia isnt perfect either i own 2 of they cards but always wanted to support ATI. I have 3 pc and they all have ati cards so...but point taken i might of over reacted at that moment guess i was really hoping the 8,12 to fix the prob i was having with the 8.11, i guess ill wait for the final and see.

4870 x2/vista64

After install, it took several minutes in restart/shut down phase. All ok so far.

Power play working upon boot .
Fan default of 50%.
CrossFire X symbol is cool.Edit:Not so cool, the symbol stays in rt upper corner blocking some game options.

I'm using the same 8.10 hotfix drivers, though I'm running a 2900xt crossfire setup myself. QoS is horribly crash-prone for me. It seems that after the final checkpoint on any given level, mere minutes before the end it'll almost guaranteed hardlock. I've had it at least once per level, requiring a restart to get anywhere... Last night I had my first 'normal' crash in the form of an invisible error message from the game.

My friend is using a p45 based board with a 4870x2 and an e8400 and he's getting the exact same things as me on the same drivers. I'll be switching to these new 8.12 RC3's tonight and trying my luck on them. Having to restart my PC each level of this cruddy game just aint worth it

Ditto here .. same here. Maybe it just me but there is a new check box in the 3D settings : OpenGL triple buffering. Maybe it was there before .. i just noticed it.

ATI stream must be completely transparent to the user .. no option anywhere.

For the ATI Avivo Video Converter ... must be a separate download later with the official drivers

ATi steam is transparent, just a coulpe of dlls.

ATI Avivio Video Converter, change the Catalyst Control Planel to "Basic Mode" - click next, then you should see a list - there you can select it and try it out.
